Can you quote a kitchen plan I already have?

Yes, and it is the fastest way to get a real number. If you have already sat down with a kitchen planner at a big-box store, used an online design tool, paid a designer for drawings or sketched the room on graph paper, the layout work is done. Send it, and we will price the same kitchen built fully custom.

You do not have to start over or commit to anything. The point is a straight comparison: the same walls, the same island, the same appliance spaces, priced the way we build.

What kind of plan can I send?

Whatever you have. The plans form takes files and photos, so any of these works:

  • A printout or PDF from a store’s kitchen design service
  • Screenshots or an export from an online kitchen planner
  • Architect or designer drawings, including elevations
  • A hand sketch with measurements, photographed on your phone
  • Photos of the room as it is now, if you have no plan yet

The more measurements a plan carries, the tighter the first number. If something is missing, such as a ceiling height or the width of a window, we will ask rather than guess.

What do I get back in 48 hours?

An itemised price for the cabinets in your layout, built fully custom. Each cabinet is listed, so you can see where the money goes and which choices move it. That is the same quote a design call would end with, and it becomes a fixed price before production starts, with no change orders once the build begins.

From there it is your decision. If you go ahead, a dedicated designer works through the details with you, with three rounds of revisions included and physical door and finish samples shipped to your home.

What changes when the same plan is built custom?

The layout stays yours. What changes is how each cabinet is made and how well it fits.

No filler strips

Stock and most semi-custom cabinets come in fixed widths, usually in 3-inch steps, so a plan fills the leftover inches with filler strips. Ours are cut to the room in 1/16-inch increments, so a run of cabinets meets the wall instead of a filler.

Plywood boxes and dovetail drawers as standard

Every box is plywood, never particle board: 3/4-inch on frameless, and 1/2-inch behind a solid face frame on framed, with 3/4-inch available. Full-extension dovetail drawers and soft-close hinges come with every kitchen rather than as upgrades.

Fully assembled, freight included

Cabinets leave the shop assembled, labelled and wrapped, and delivery to your door anywhere in the continental US is in the price. In the Bay Area, installation is available too. Everywhere else, your installer or contractor fits them, working from labelled boxes and drawings, with your designer on hand through the job.

Can you match my existing layout exactly?

Yes. If the plan has a 36-inch sink base and a 30-inch range opening, that is what we price. Where a fixed-size plan has used a filler, the quote replaces it with a cabinet sized to fill the space, and the note beside it says so. If a measurement on the plan looks wrong against the photos, we will flag it rather than build around a mistake.

Comparing two quotes line by line is easier when both price the same layout. Our guide to comparing a local shop with a factory brand has a checklist for exactly that.

Why get a custom price on a plan I already have?

Because most people never find out what custom would have cost. A plan drawn at a store is priced in that store’s cabinet lines, and the number arrives with the layout already built around their fixed sizes. Custom tends to look out of reach mainly because nobody prices it against the same drawing.

A second quote on the same layout answers three questions at once. What would this kitchen cost with plywood boxes and dovetail drawers as standard rather than as upgrades? How much of the first quote is filler strips and end panels covering gaps? And what does freight and assembly add on each side? Once both prices describe the same kitchen, the comparison is about what you get, not about two different rooms.

It also helps if you like the plan but not the quote. Some homeowners keep the layout their store designer drew and move the build to a custom shop. That is a perfectly good way to buy a kitchen, and nobody minds.

What if I don’t have a plan yet?

Then send what you do have. Photos of the room from each corner, the rough length of each wall and the ceiling height are enough to start. Mark where the window, doors, sink and range sit, even on a hand sketch. We will turn that into a first layout and price it, and your designer refines it with you from there.

If you would rather measure properly first, our guide to measuring your kitchen for cabinets walks through it wall by wall, including the outlets, vents and plumbing that change where a cabinet can go.

How do I send my plan?

Use the plans form. Upload the plan or a photo of it, then answer three quick questions: cabinet type, wood and door style. If you are not sure on any of them, pick “Not sure” and we will suggest one with the price. The quote comes back within 48 hours.

Prefer to talk it through first? Call 925-849-4110. And if you want to know the likely range before you send anything, see what custom kitchen cabinets cost.

How long does it take after I say yes?

About eight weeks in the shop once the design is approved, then delivery. Most kitchens go from the first call to delivered in about twelve weeks.

Frequently asked questions

Can you quote a kitchen plan from a big-box store?

Yes. Send the printout, PDF or screenshots, and we will price the same layout built fully custom, itemised, within 48 hours.

Do I need exact measurements?

No. A sketch with rough measurements and a few photos is enough for a first price. We ask about anything missing, and measurements are confirmed before anything is built.

Will the layout change?

Only where you want it to. Filler strips in a fixed-size plan are replaced with cabinets sized to fill the space, and the quote says where.

Is freight included outside California?

Yes. Delivery to your door anywhere in the continental US is included in the quoted price.

Do you install?

In the Bay Area, yes. Elsewhere the cabinets arrive fully assembled and labelled for your installer, with your designer supporting the job.
